THE BASICS:

- Score: Colorado College 16, MIT 12

- The Lead: In the first meeting between both programs, Colorado College outscored MIT, 6-1, in the second quarter en route to a 16-12 win in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Tuesday. Junior Graham Davis (Crofton, Md.) tallied five goals, one assist, and three groundballs for the Engineers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- MIT senior Michael Traub (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) opened the scoring just over two minutes into the game while back-to-back strikes by Davis gave the visitors a 3-1 lead midway through the quarter. Colorado College ended its nine-minute scoring drought with 1:14 remaining in the frame before going on its game-changing second-quarter run that resulted in an 8-4 lead for the hosts.

- The Engineers cut their deficit in half early in the third quarter. Junior Mitch Turley (Westfield, Ind.) connected on a feed from classmate Jack Kelly (Milford, Del.) while freshman Aidan Westley (Palos Verdes, Calif.) redirected a pass from Davis to make the score 8-6 at the 13:17 mark. The Tigers responded with a 3-1 burst to create some breathing room at the end of the frame.

- MIT once again narrowed the gap to two (11-9) after Traub and Westley found the back of the net with 12:35 left to play. Colorado College countered with four straight goals during the next four minutes; however, the Engineers ended the game with a 3-1 spurt.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Turley recorded a hat trick while Traub posted two goals and two assists. Westley scored twice as senior Harris Stolzenberg (Weston, Fla.) dished out three assists. Junior Christian Jamison (Huntington, N.Y.) collected five groundballs while classmate David Klee (East Greenbush, N.Y.) generated two caused turnovers. Freshman Dylan Marlborough (Cutchogue, N.Y.) was 8-of-17 at the face off "X" as sophomore Alexander Lynch (Roswell, Ga.) totaled 16 saves.

- The Tigers finished with advantages in shots (51-35), groundballs (20-18), and extra-man opportunities (4-of-6/0-2).
