Cambridge, Mass. (July 21) -- The MIT Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) has announced that the department will resume intercollegiate athletics competition in the Fall 2021 season. Teams will begin to return to campus for preseason practices in mid-August and the first competitions will take place in the beginning of September.

"I am extremely excited to announce that our intercollegiate athletics programs will fully resume competition beginning in the Fall 2021 season," said
Dr. G. Anthony Grant, MIT director of athletics/DAPER department head. "Our student-athletes, coaches and staff have faced many challenges over the past 15 months, but have continued to push forward and prepare for the return to play. I am excited for everyone in the MIT community as we will again compete for championships and provide our student-athletes with the best athletics experience possible."

MIT Athletics will continue to follow the latest local, state and federal guidelines regarding Covid-19, as well as the NCAA health and safety protocols.
