MIT Men's Volleyball Completes Historic NCAA Tournament Journey
The No. 10 MIT men's volleyball team reached new heights this postseason, beginning with the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament victory in a dominant sweep of St. Joseph's (Long Island). The Engineers followed that milestone with a thrilling second-round upset over No. 4 Stevens, battling back from a 2-1 deficit to win in five sets. Standout Nate Toth fueled the offense during this stretch, highlighted by a career-high 25 kills against the Ducks to punch MIT's ticket to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinal match against No. 5 California Lutheran, the Engineers jumped out to a promising two-set lead before the Kingsmen staged a comeback. Despite a strong 17-kill performance from Toth, MIT ultimately fell in a narrow 15-12 fifth-set finish to end their season. Finishing with a 24-8 record, the team concludes a remarkable year defined by historic wins and national-level competitiveness.
