Water Polo Defeated by No. 19 St. Francis Brooklyn, 23-10

- The Lead: The MIT men's water polo team fell 23-10 to No. 19 St. Francis Brooklyn in NWPC action on Sunday morning.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers opened the match with six-straight goals before a score from first-year Adam Ivatorov (Rockaway, N.Y.) ended the SFB run. Junior Evan Kowal (South Pasadena, Calif.) and senior Miller Geschke (Los Altos, Calif.) scored for the Engineers as the home team went into the half with a 9-3 lead.
 
- St. Francis continued to build on its lead in the third as they ended the quarter with an 18-6 advantage. Geschke scored twice to complete the hat trick and sophomore Jack King (Los Altos, Calif.).
 
- SFB held a 5-4 advantage in goals in the final frame. Kowal scored twice while Geschke tallied his fourth of the day and first-year Vik Neni (Laguna Beach, Calif.) got his first.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Geschke's four goals today give him a team-leading 28 on the season. He also added an assist and grabbed one steal.
 
- Kowal recorded a hat trick and now has 19 goals this season.
 
- Ivatorov led MIT with four ejections earned.
 
- Junior Colin Weaver (Huntington Beach, Calif.) made 11 saves in the contest, and senior Conrad Oakes (Pasadena, Calif) stopped six shots.
 
UP NEXT:

- MIT returns to action on Saturday, October 8th when they will head to New London, Conn. for an 11 a.m. contest at Connecticut College, followed by a 5 p.m. contest at Brown.
