CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Adam Ivatorov and Caspar Lightner of the MIT water polo team have been named All-Americans by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC). This is the 11th-straight year the Engineers have had at least two All-Americans. Ivatorov earned second team honors while Lightner was named an honorable mention.
Ivatorov becomes the third three-time All-American in program history, earning second team laurels all three times. Ivatorov set the career goals record and finishes his career with 328 goals, finishing his senior season second on the team with 73 goals. He earned a career-best 119 ejections and added 14 steals and eight blocks. Ivatorov was named NWPC Second Team All-Conference and was named an Honorable Mention for the All-Tournament Team.
Lightner completed his rookie campaign with a team-high 80 goals and 99 points, scoring in all but four games while recording 17 games with three or more goals, highlighted by three six-goal matches. He went 14-21 on sprints while collecting 20 steals. He was named the NWPC Rookie of the Week twice as well as the NWPC Rookie of the Tournament. Lightner was also named to the USA Water Polo Division III Championships All-Tournament Team and was an NWPC Honorable Mention All-Conference selection.
