The Lead:Â The MIT water polo team scored a season-high 19 goals as the Engineers defeated Connecticut College, 19-7 on Saturday afternoon in day two action at the NWPC Tournament at Brown.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- MIT jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead after the first eight minutes of play. First-year
Luke Apostolides (Greenwich, Conn.) opened the scoring for the Engineers at 6:16. MIT got goals from senior
Miller Geschke (Los Altos, Calif.), junior
Alex Freedline (Miami, Fla.), junior
Evan Kowal (South Pasadena, Calif.), sophomore
Jack King (Los Altos, Calif.) and first-year
Adam Ivatorov (Rockaway, N.Y.) in the quarter

- The Engineers built a 9-4 going into the half with Apostolides and Ivatorov scoring their second of the day and first-year
Kush Khamesra (Portland, Ore.) getting his first of the match.

- Two goals from Geschke and first-year
Vik Neni (Laguna Beach, Calif.) and the third goal of the day for Apostolides put the Engineers up 14-5 heading into the last quarter.

- MIT scored five more times in the final eight minutes of action with Geschke scoring his fourth of the match and Neni recording his third. Sophomore
Richard Yun (Irvine, Calif.) and first-year
David Keller (Long Beach, Calif.) scored their first of the games as the Engineers defeated the Camels 19-7.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Geschke finished the day with a team-leading four goals and added four assists and four steals. He is now the MIT all-time leader in steals in a single season (80) and steals in a career (223). His 47 assists this season is nine shy of his program mark and he currently ranks second all-time in career goals with 284, 33 shy of the program record.

- Apostolides finished with his fifth hat trick of the year and added a steal and ejection earned.

- Yun added four assists, three steals, and two ejections earned while King led the way with seven steals.

Colin Weaver (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and senior
Conrad Oakes (Pasadena, Calif.) each made five saves.
