The Lead:Â The eighth-ranked Princeton University water polo team used a 16-1 run after the first quarter of play to defeat the MIT water polo team 22-5 on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tigers scored the first two goals before back-to-back goals from junior
Evan Kowal (South Pasadena, Calif.) tied the match. Princeton scored at 3:22 to go up one, but Kowal scored his third of the quarter at 3:02 to bring the teams even. Two Princeton goals made it a 5-3 match before a score from senior
Miller Geschke (Los Altos, Calif.) got the Engineers to within one.

- From that point, the Tigers scored the next eight goals before a goal from first-year
Adam Ivatorov (Rockaway, N.Y.) ended the Princeton run at 6:10 in the third. Princeton concluded the game on a 9-0 run.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Kowal recorded his 12th hat trick of the season as he has 52 goals this season. He also recorded two steals in the match.
