- The Lead: The MIT men's tennis team earned a decisive 9-0 sweep over Bentley University on Wednesday afternoon inside the J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Engineers opened play taking all three doubles matches with first-years
Carl-Herman Grant (Oslo, Norway) and
Daniel Antov (Austin, Texas) opening play with an 8-3 win in No. 1 doubles followed by sophomore
Joseph Li (Naperville, Ill.) and first-year
Benjamin Ebanks (New York, N.Y) taking an 8-7 (7-4) win in the No. 3 position. First-year
Wayne Nelms (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore
Sundeep Chakladar (Redondo Beach, Calif.) wrapped up the sweep in doubles with an 8-3 win in the No. 2 position.
- MIT won all but one singles contest in straight sets. Sophomore
Joshua Masuda (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.), junior
Derek Shen (Chestnut Hill, Mass.), junior
Daniel Papacica (Carmel, Calif.), sophomore
Daniel Sharygin (Newburgh, Ind.), and Chakladar all registered straight-set victories, while in the No. 2 position,
Richter Jordaan held off
Connor Aulson in the third set by an 11-9 score to take the win.
