- Records: MIT (10-6), Springfield (18-1)

- Location: Springfield, Mass. (Dana Gymnasium)

- The Lead: The MIT Engineers suffered a setback against No. 2 Springfield as the Engineers fell in straight sets to the Pride on the road on Saturday afternoon. This was the second game in as many days against a top-15 team on the road for MIT.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Set 1: A kill from junior Jack Yurkanin (New Lenox, Ill.) jump-started a 4-0 MIT run to give them a one-point lead at 15-14. The Pride responded scoring 11 of the next 14 points take set one 25-18.

- Set 2: Springfield jumped out to a quick start in the second and never looked back, winning the second set by a 25-11 score.

- Set 3: Trailing 12-7, back-to-back kills from junior Brett Allen (San Jose, Calif.) and first-year Grant Oh (Irvine, Calif.) got MIT to within three of the Pride. After a service error from MIT, the Engineers got to within two on a kill from junior Dylan Ryan (Oviedo, Fla.) and a Pride attacking error. Springfield would not let the Engineers get any closer as they slowly pulled away to clinch the set 25-16.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Yurkanin and Oh each had four kills in the match while Ryan and sophomore Phillip Johnson (Chandler, Ariz.) registered three each. Oh also led the Engineers with four digs.

- Sophomore Max Turner (Chandler, Ariz.) led MIT with 11 assists in the match.
