The MIT men's tennis team opened up the fall season with the MIT invitational as the Engineers hosted Division I teams in Army, Boston College, and Long Island University on the DuPont Tennis Courts for two days of play.

Wayne Nelms (Baltimore, Md.) and junior
Sundeep Chakladar (Redondo Beach, Calif.) took down
Ales D'Anna and
Phillip Hilble 6-0, and sophomore
Daniel Antov (Austin, Texas) and senior
Daniel Papacica (Carmel, Calif.) earned a 6-2 win over
Tuna Nergizoglu and
Akhil Indrabalan, 6-2.

In singles action, senior
Derek Shen (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) won his match 6-1, 5-7, 10-5 over D'Anna, and seniors
Richter Jordaan (Denver, Colo.)Â and
Benji Grossman (Sands Point, N.Y.) also earned wins in singles play.

Shen won his singles match against
Mai Gao, 6-4, 6-3.

AGAINST ARMY
Â
Antov and Papacica grabbed a doubles win with a 7-5 win over
Michael Zhang and Michael Rooney.

Papacica earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over
Nathan Jose in singles action along with Nelms who edged out a 7-5, 6-3 victory against
Jack Hanna. After dropping the first set 1-6, juniorÂ
Joseph Li (Naperville, Ill.) rallied to win the next two sets against Rooney, 7-5, 10-3.
