- The Lead: At the URI Invitational on Saturday, the MIT women's track field team finished with three event wins and 12 top-10 performances.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- On Friday at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational at Tufts, first-year
Katie Kempff (St. Charles, Ill.) finished second in the pentathlon with a score of 2,885 points. That total ranks her 15th in the country as she also posted the No. 10 high jump mark in the country in the meet at five feet, five inches.

- At URI, sophomore
Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) picked up two more wins as she captured both the shot put and the weight throw. In the shot, she posted her winning toss of 45 feet, 1.25 inches on her last attempt and in the weight throw, she was the top seed and finished at 56 feet, five inches.

- In the 400 meters, junior
Paige Cooksey (Ormond Beach, Fla.) won the event with a time of 58.81 seconds that converts to 58.04 seconds to rank No. 11 in the nation. Sophomore
Marina Miller (Bel Air, Md.) finished second in the event at 1:00.17.

First-year
Nony Otu Ugwu (Katy, Texas) took second in the triple jump and is No. 23 nationally with a jump of 36 feet, 11 inches on her fourth attempt. Senior
Laena Tieng (Kent, Wash.) was sixth overall at a leap of 35 feet, 7.5 inches.

- In the mile, senior
Kirsi Rajagopal (Harrison, N.Y.) was the top Division III finisher and ninth overall as she crossed in a time of 5:13.86. while first-year
Krystal Montgomery (San Jose, Calif.) was sixth in the 500 at 1:19.66. In addition, first-year
Shreya Kalyan (Troy, Mich.) finished seventh in the 200 in 26.74 seconds and Miller was eighth in 26.80 seconds.

Hailey Surace (Snohomish, Wash.) placed 10th in the pole vault with a height of 10 feet, 0.5 inches and junior
Tolu Akinbo (Naperville, Ill.) was seventh in the high jump at five feet, one inch.
