- Location: BU Track and Tennis Center (Boston, Mass.) and The TRACK at New Balance (Boston, Mass.)

- The Lead: In one of the top performances in program history, the No. 10 MIT men's track and field team posted eight top-10 nationally-ranked marks, three school records and three within the top five all-time in Division III history over the weekend at the John Thomas Terrier Classic and the River Hawk Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED AT BU:

- In the 3,000 meters, senior
Sam Acquaviva (Newburyport, Mass.) finished second in his heat and is now second in the country with a time of 8:00.41. His time, which was the third-fastest in Division III history, shattered the previous MIT school record of 8:11.60. Graduate student
Ryan Wilson (Redwood City, Calif.) is ranked eighth in the nation with a time of 8:11.65, while first-year
Tim Neumann (Downers Grove, Ill.) set the MIT rookie record with a time of 8:22.59. The previous mark was 8:28.13.

- The final race of Friday night at BU was the 5,000 meters and it did not disappoint as the Engineers had eight runners overall in the event. Senior
Matthew Kearney (Austin, Texas) finished second in the heat and is second in the nation as he crossed in a school-record time of 14:01.76. His time is the fourth-fastest in Division III history and shattered the previous MIT record that stood at 14:20.63. Senior
Andrew Mah (Newton, Mass.) also broke the previous school record and ran the 10th-fastest time in D3 history as he crossed in 14:10.54. His time currently ranks him fourth in the country.

- In the distance medley relay, MIT posted the No. 1 AND No. 2 times in the country while running the third-fastest time in Division III history. The MIT A relay of Wilson, first-year

Henry Hardart (Annapolis, Md.) and Acquaviva ran a time of 9:44.98, breaking the previous MIT record of 9:49.45 that was set in 2012. The MIT B relay of sophomore
Ziyad Hassan (Ashburn, Va.), sophomore
Andrew Spears (Albuquerque, N.M.), sophomore
Pau Ilerbaig-Bajona (Toronto, Canada) and sophomore
Pablo Arroyo (Richardson, Texas) crossed in sixth overall and in the second-fastest time in the country at 10:00.14.

- First-year
Charlie Glass (Austin, Texas) was 11th overall and is fifth in the country in the 800 meters as he crossed in a time of 1:51.45. Ilerbaig-Bajona joined him under two minutes as he ran a time of 1:56.775. First-year
Jack DeBaugh (Severna Park, Md.) ran a time of 50.28 seconds to led MIT in the 400, while senior
Evan Schaefer (Frederick, Md.) finished 14th in the 500 at 1:06.42.

- In the mile, Hardart was 63rd overall and is ranked ninth in the nation as he ran a time of 4:09.68 to lead six Engineers who ran under 4:22. First-year
Jared Steins (Chino Hills, Calif.) and sophomore
Simon Opsahl (Redlands, Calif.) ran an identical time of 2:29.31 in the 1,000 meters to place 17th and 18th, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED AT THE TRACK AT NEW BALANCE:

Nathan Shapiro (Glenview, Ill.) won the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 11.25 inches, while first-year
Sean Huckleberry (San Francisco, Calif.) was fourth overall and 21st in the country with a triple jump of 46 feet, 2.5 inches.

- Sophomore
Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) was fourth in both the shot put and weight throw with marks of 51 feet, 11.75 inches and 56 feet, respectively. Senior
Jeremiah Budiman (Plano, Texas) finished fourth in the 60-meter finals at 6.96 seconds, with first-year
Enoch Ellis (Garland, Texas) in fourth in the 60-meter hurdle final in 8.31 seconds.

Jackson Bliey (Wilmington, Del.) finished third in the high jump with a clearance of six feet, seven inches. Senior
Bryan Sperry (San Diego, Calif.) and first-year
Sawyer Garrett (Sherborn, Mass.) placed 15th and 18th, respectively, in the pole vault with an identical clearance of 14 feet, 1.25 inches.
