- The Lead: The MIT women's swimming and diving team put together an excellent day in the pool as the Engineers defeated NEWMAC foe Springfield, 230-67 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Junior
Jolie Kim (Englewood, Calif.) won the 1,000-free in 11:04.43. Swimming in her first 1,000 free event, junior
Vivian Shao (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished in second with a time of 11:15.90.

- The 200-free saw MIT take the top three spots, led by first-year
Ella Roberson (Midland, Mich.) with an NCAA B Cut time of 1:52.10. She finished almost six seconds ahead of teammate sophomore
Natalie Tang (Allen, Texas) (1:59.00) in second and sophomore
Kathy Zhao (Cincinnati, Ohio) took third with a time of 2:02.52.

- Junior
Kate Augustyn (Eau Claire, Wis.) won all her events taking first in the 100-back (57.13), 100-free (53.30), and 400-IM (4:32.24).

- MIT swept both the 100-back and the 200-fly. Augustyn led the way in the 100-back followed by junior
Iris Yang (Seattle, Wash.) (58.26) and first-year
Sydney Smith (Atlanta, Ga.) (59.26). The fly saw first-year
Camila Pierce (Raleigh, N.C.) take first with a time of 2:11.14 followed by classmate
Katherine Yao (Frisco, Texas) (2:12.44) and junior
Stella Shipps (Cedar Park, Texas) (2:18.71).

- The 400-IM was also all MIT led by Augustyn who was followed by Yao (4:35.98) and Tang (4:44.77).

- Roberson clocked in with a time of 5:03.66 to win the 500-free. Sophomore
Sonia Seliger (New York, N.Y.) finished in second with a time of 5:16.35.

- First-year
Kailey Simons (Williston Park, N.Y.) posted a season-best time in the 100-fly with a mark of 57.11 to take first in the event.

- First-year
Fiora Beratahani (San Jose, Calif.) hit an NCAA Regional Qualifying mark (264.61) on the one-meter board with her win. She also took the top spot on the three-meter with a score of 273.76.

- MIT closed out the day with a win in the 400-yard relay. Roberson, first-year
Anna Li (Boyds, Md.), Smith, and Seliger finished with a time of 3:34.66.

UP NEXT:
- MIT will take a week off before returning to the pool on Saturday, November 18 for a dual meet in Worcester, Mass. against WPI and Bowdoin.
