- The Lead: Led by a school record in the 60 meters from senior
Jeremiah Budiman (Plano, Texas), two top-20 national marks and six overall event victories, the No. 2 ranked MIT men's track and field team competed at the Crimson Elite, Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational and the Tufts Cupid Challenge. As a team, the Engineers finished third out of nine teams at Tufts with a total of 120 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED AT HARVARD:

- Budiman lowered his own MIT school record in the 60 meters as he ran a time of 6.91 seconds, taking .02 seconds off his previous top time. First-year
Enoch Ellis (Garland, Texas) crossed in 12th place in the 60-meter hurdles as he posted a time of 8.37 seconds.

Nathan Shapiro (Glenview, Ill.) placed 13th in the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 0.25 inches on his final attempt.

- Sophomore
Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) competed in the shot put and the weight throw as he finished sixth and 13th, respectively. In the shot, he threw a distance of 50 feet, 3.5 inches and in the weight throw, he posted a mark of 52 feet, 10.25 inches.

HOW IT HAPPENED AT BU:

- In the 800 meters, graduate student
Matthew Schofield (Shorewood, Ill.) ran a time of 1:54.41, while sophomore
Simon Opsahl (Redlands, Calif.) ran a personal-best time of 4:14.20 in the mile.

HOW IT HAPPENED AT TUFTS:

- In the 60-meter hurdles, senior
Kenneth Wei (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) won the event with a time of 8.17 seconds. Ellis finished fourth in the final, but put up a time of 8.13 seconds in the prelims to rank sixth in the country. Sophomore
Walter Truitt (Houston, Texas) was second in the event with a finals time of 8.27 as he is now No. 19 in the nation.

Nolan Clement (Fullerton, Calif.) won the 60 meters in a personal-best time of 6.95 seconds to lead four MIT scorers in the event. First-year
Patrick Haertel (Cumming, Ga.) was third in a PR of 7.04 seconds, followed by senior
McKinley Polen (Los Altos, Calif.) in sixth at 7.15 and junior
Garrett Whitmore (Webster City, Iowa) in seventh in a time of 7.17 seconds.

Jack DeBaugh (Severna Park, Md.) won the 400 meters in 50.71 seconds, followed in fourth by senior
Evan Schaefer (Frederick, Md.) in a time of 51.65 seconds. MIT had three scorers in the 200, led by first-year
Zac Nwogwugwu (London, United Kingdom) in fourth at 23.17 seconds. Senior
Mozi Guobadia (Katy, Texas) crossed in fifth at 23.18, along with sophomore
Andrew Spears (Albuquerque, N.M.) in sixth in a time of 23.48.

Sean Huckleberry (San Francisco, Calif.) won the triple jump in a personal-best mark of 46 feet, six inches, while first-year
Jackson Bliey (Wilmington, Del.) took the high jump with a clearance of six feet, 7.5 inches.

- Engebretson won the shot put with a mark of 52 feet, eight inches and was third in the weight throw in 54 feet. 9.5 inches. Senior
Henry Sobieszczyk (Newton, Mass.) scored in eighth place in the weight throw at 44 feet, 9.75 inches.

Max Hardy (Houston, Texas) led three MIT scorers in the pole vault with a clearance of 14 feet, 1.25 inches. Senior
Bryan Sperry (San Diego, Calif.) and first-year
Sawyer Garrett (Sherborn, Mass.) tied for sixth as they both cleared 13 feet, 7.25 inches.
