- Location: BU Track and Tennis Center (Boston, Mass.) and the Gantcher Field House (Medford, Mass.)

- The Lead: Over the weekend, the No. 7 ranked MIT women's track and field team competed at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational at BU and the Tufts Cupid Challenge. The Engineers posted two top-20 nationally-ranked times at BU, while the team finished third out of 13 teams at Tufts with a total of 93.75 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED AT BU:

- In the mile, sophomore
Christina Crow (Mercer Island, Wash.) posted a time of 4:59.72, while first-year
Lexi Fernandez (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) was right behind her at 4:59.79. Those two marks rank No. 17 and No. 18 in the country, respectively, and are both personal bests.

HOW IT HAPPENED AT TUFTS:

- Sophomore
Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) earned victories in the shot put and weight throw, including a win by over nine feet in the shot. In the shot, she posted a toss of 46 feet, four inches, along with a distance of 59 feet, 9.5 inches. That mark was just 3.75 inches shy of her career-best. Sophomore
Emily Ball (Des Moines, Iowa) was second in the weight throw at 50 feet, 9.25 and fifth in the shot put at 36 feet, 1.25 inches. Junior
Erika Leasher (Midland, Mich.) placed fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 44 feet, nine inches.

- First-year
Katie Kempff (St. Charles, Ill.) took the high jump with a clearance of five feet, 3.25 inches to mark her second win in the event this season. Junior
Tolu Akinbo (Naperville, Ill.) finished in third at five feet, 1.25 inches and sophomore
Sofia Haug (Kadrina Vald, Estonia) tied for seventh after clearing four feet, 9.5 inches.

- MIT had three scorers in the 400 meters, including personal-bests from both first-year
Shreya Kalyan (Troy, Mich.) and first-year
Krystal Montgomery (San Jose, Calif.). Kalyan was third in 59.59 seconds, followed by Montgomery in fourth at 1:00.03 and graduate student
Sonia Purohit (Branchburg, N.J.) at fifth in 1:00.24.

- In the triple jump, first-year
Nony Otu Ugwu (Katy, Texas) was second in 36 feet, 4.25 and she was followed by senior
Laena Tieng (Kent, Wash.) with a jump of 36 feet, 0.25 inches. Junior
Emma Martin (North Andover, Mass.) finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 17 feet, 2.75 and Tieng followed in eighth at 16 feet, 5.25 inches.

Hailey Surace (Snohomish, Wash.) finished third in the pole vault as she cleared a personal-best height of 11 feet, 3.75 inches.
