Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) earned All-American honors in the weight throw to lead the No. 13 MIT women's track and field team on day one of the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championship in Alabama.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Boykin finished in eighth place overall in the weight throw as she posted a toss of 57 feet, nine inches on her second attempt of the competition. In the pole vault, first-year
Hailey Surace (Snohomish, Wash.) ended up in 13th place overall with a clearance of 12 feet, 3.5 inches as she cleared that height on her third attempt.

- In the mile, junior
Gillian Roeder (Delmar, N.Y.) qualified for the final as she finished in second place with a time of 4:54.01. Sophomore
Christina Crow (Mercer Island, Wash.) placed 19th overall in the event, crossing in 5:06.68.

Julia Howarth (Barrington, R.I.) earned her spot in Saturday's 800-meter final as she registered the No. 7 time overall with a PR of 2:11.33. In the 5,000 meters, first-year
Katherine Sanderson (West Hartford, Conn.) finished in 20th in the 5,000 meters as she ran a time of 17:36.83 in her first appearance at the national championship.

- In the two relays to end day one, the MIT 4x400 was 12th in a time of 3:57.58, along with the distance medley relay in 10th at 11:55.23.
