- The Lead: At the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship, the No. 13 ranked MIT women's track and field team finished 16th out of 58 scoring teams with a total of 14 points as the Engineers had seven All-Americans on day two of the championship. MIT moved up 13 spots in the overall standings on Saturday with a 13-point performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Sophomore
Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) picked up her second All-American showing of the meet as she placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 47 feet, 3.5 inches on her second attempt for the day.

- In the mile final, junior
Gillian Roeder (Delmar, N.Y.) earned All-American status with a fifth-place finish. She ran a time of 4:53.35, moving up through the field throughout the race and narrowly avoiding an early collision of runners, en route to scoring for the Engineers.

- In the 800 meters, junior
Julia Howarth (Barrington, R.I.) was an All-American as she crossed in fifth place with a personal-best time of 2:13.34 to earn four points.

- In the final event for the Engineers, the 4x400 relay team of junior
Madeline Hon (Manhasset, N.Y.), first-year
Shreya Kalyan (Troy, Mich.), sophomore
Marina Miller (Bel Air, Md.) and Howarth came away with a sixth-place performance in 3:49.72.
