- The Lead: At the 2023 Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State University, the MIT women's track and field team opened the 2023 outdoor season in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters as the Engineers posted three top-10 nationally-ranked marks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- On a warm Thursday night, first-year
Katherine Sanderson (West Hartford, Conn.) and senior
Einat Gavish (Newton, Mass.) competed under the lights in the 10,000 meters. Sanderson crossed in a time of 37:13.31, followed by Gavish at 37:48.44 as they are now ranked No. 4 and No. 5 in the nation, respectively.

- In the 5,000 meters on Friday evening, senior
Kirsi Rajagopal (Harrison, N.Y.) ran a personal-best time of 17:46 as she is now ranked No. 7 in the country.
