The Lead: The No. 37 MIT men's tennis team cruised to a 5-0 win over Springfield NEWMAC Semifinals on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Babson College. With the win the Engineers are now 23-0 in the semifinals and 7-0 against Springfield.

- A stellar doubles performance by the Engineers allowed them to head into singles play needing just two victories to head to tomorrow's championship. Senior
Derek Shen (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) and junior
Joseph Li (Naperville, Ill.) cruised to an 8-1 win in three doubles and sophomore
Wayne Nelms (Baltimore, Md.) and junior
Sundeep Chakladar (Redondo Beach, Calif.) took an 8-2 win in two doubles.

- Junior
Kailas Kahler (Pawtucket, R.I.) and senior
Daniel Papacica (Carmel, Calif.) wrapped up doubles play with an 8-4 win over
Tim Norin and
Waseem Sablon in one doubles.

- Shen cruised to an 6-1, 6-0 win in three singles, and a win from sophomore
Ryan Xiao (Cary, N.C.), 6-0, 6-0 over
Mark Villanueva sealed the win for MIT.

- MIT will head to its 23rd NEWMAC Championship as the Engineers will take on host Babson. This is the 13th time the two rivals will meet in the Championship match which will take place tomorrow, Sunday April 23 at 12 p.m.
