- The Lead: Led by three top-20 nationally-ranked performances, the No. 9 MIT women's track and field team hosted the Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers also hosted the first Sean Collier Distance Night under the lights on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED ON FRIDAY AT DISTANCE NIGHT:

- In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, senior
Einat Gavish (Newton, Mass.) finished second by just over two seconds as she crossed at 10:59.41.

- Senior
Kirsi Rajagopal (Harrison, N.Y.) led a group of five Engineers in the 5,000 meters as she posted a personal-best time of 17:01.14 to finish second and rank No. 17 nationally. Junior
Gillian Roeder (Delmar, N.Y.) was third in a PR of 17:13.07, followed by first-year
Katherine Sanderson (West Hartford, Conn.) in fourth place in a time of 17:16.33.

HOW IT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY:

- Junior
Julia Howarth (Barrington, R.I.) finished fifth in the 800 meters as she moved up to No. 14 in the country with a season-best time of 2:13.26. In the 1,500 meters, first-year
Lexi Fernandez (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) placed fourth in 4:46.80 and sophomore
Christina Crow (Mercer Island, Wash.) was right behind her in fifth in 4:47.37.

- In the discus, sophomore
Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) finished in second at 153 feet, 10 inches. Sophomore
Emily Ball (Des Moines, Iowa) placed third with a throw of 141 feet, three inches and is ranked 20th in the nation. Boykin won the shot put by almost four feet with a throw of 45 feet, 0.5 inches.

- Boykin was also victorious in the hammer throw with a distance of 162 feet, along with Ball in second at 159 feet, 10 inches. First-year
Elaine Wang (West Des Moines, Iowa) placed second in the javelin with a throw of 128 feet, one inch. In the high jump, junior
Tolu Akinbo (Naperville, Ill.) took the victory as she won with a personal-best clearance of five feet, 4.25 inches.

- In the long jump, senior
Laena Tieng (Kent, Wash.) finished second at 16 feet, 11.25 inches. First-year
Nony Otu Ugwu (Katy, Texas) placed fifth with a leap of 15 feet, 10.25 inches. The two flipped in the triple jump as Otu Ugwu was fourth at 36 feet, 11 inches, followed by Tieng in fifth at 36 feet.

Hailey Surace (Snohomish, Wash.) placed third with a height of 11 feet, 7.75 inches. On the track in the 400, junior
Madeline Hon (Manhasset, N.Y.) was second in a time of 59.48 seconds. Sophomore
Olivia Dias (East Taunton, Mass.) was close behind in third with a time of 59.90 seconds.
