HOW IT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY:

- In the long jump, Wei took the event by nearly a foot as he won with a leap of 22 feet, 11 inches. MIT first-year
Nathan Shapiro (Glenview, Ill.) was second in 21 feet, 11.75, followed in third by first-year
Sean Huckleberry (San Francisco, Calif.) with a leap of 21 feet, 7.25 inches. Junior
Spencer Yandrofski (Chapel Hill, N.C.) finished in seventh, jumping 21 feet, 5.25 inches.

- In the hammer, Engebretson won the event by 41 feet with his career-best toss of 192 feet, five inches. Senior
Henry Sobieszczyk (Newton, Mass.) placed fifth with his throw of 134 feet, three inches. First-year
Jackson Bliey (Wilmington, Del.) finished third in the javelin, posting a throw of 167 feet, six inches as he narrowly missed a runner-up finish.

- The MIT school and rookie records both fell in the 100-meter prelims as first-year
Nolan Clement (Fullerton, Calif.) crossed in third with a time of 10.75 seconds. First-year
Zac Nwogwugwu (London, United Kingdom) was also below the previous record as he placed fifth at 10.79 seconds. Also qualifying for Sunday's final was senior
Mozi Guobadia (Katy, Texas) in seventh at 10.80 and senior
Jeremiah Budiman (Plano, Texas) in eighth at 10.82 seconds.

- In the 10,000 meters, junior
Raymond Brookman (Santa Cruz, Calif.) led four Engineers in the top eight as he finished as the runner-up in 31:53.71. Senior
Andrew Mah (Newton, Mass.) was fourth in 31:59.07, followed by senior
Lowell Hensgen (Raleigh, N.C.) in sixth with a time of 32:09.83. Sophomore
Carlos Villa (Gurnee, Ill.) finished in seventh place, crossing in 32:25.38.

- MIT also had four scorers in the pole vault as all four student-athletes cleared 14 feet, 1.25 inches. Finishing third was junior
Trey Gurga (San Diego, Calif.), followed by graduate student
Max Hardy (Houston, Texas) in fourth,
Sawyer Garrett (Sherborn, Mass.) in the fifth and senior
Bryan Sperry (San Diego, Calif.) in sixth.

Enoch Ellis (Garland, Texas), the Engineers are sending three to the finals of the 110-meter hurdles. Ellis won the prelims in a time of 14.36 seconds, followed in second by sophomore
Walter Truitt (Houston, Texas) in second at 14.40 and Wei in third at 14.49 seconds.
