- The Lead: On Sunday afternoon, the No. 10 ranked MIT women's track and field team captured the program's 14th all-time NEWMAC title with a 105.5-point victory over runner-up Coast Guard at the 2023 NEWMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED ON SUNDAY:

- Sophomore
Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) won the hammer throw and is ranked No. 10 nationally with a toss of 177 feet, 11 inches. The throw was 12 feet past her previous career-best. Boykin also won the shot put in a time of 45 feet, 5.25 inches as sophomore
Emily Ball (Des Moines, Iowa) finished fourth at 37 feet, 10.5 inches. The two reversed roles in the discus where Ball was first in 135 feet, five inches and Boykin followed in second at 134 feet, six inches.

- In the 400 meters, sophomore
Marina Miller (Bel Air, Md.) led an MIT sweep of the top four positions as she ran a time of 56.99 seconds. Junior
Madeline Hon (Manhasset, N.Y.) finished second at 58.32 seconds, along with third place by junior
Julia Howarth (Barrington, R.I.) and sophomore
Olivia Dias (East Taunton, Mass.) in fourth in 59.25 seconds.

- The day on the track started with the 3,000-meter steeplechase as senior
Einat Gavish (Newton, Mass.) took that race in a time of 11:02.79. In the 400-meter hurdles, junior
Paige Cooksey (Ormond Beach, Fla.) won with a time of 1:04.23, while the MIT 4x100 meter relay team finished in second place in a time of 48.60 seconds.

- In the triple jump, senior
Laena Tieng (Kent, Wash.) won with a jump of 37 feet, 9.25 inches, with first-year
Nony Otu Ugwu (Katy, Texas) placing second at 37 feet, six inches.

- MIT had three scorers in the 800 meters with sophomore
Christina Crow (Mercer Island, Wash.) leading the way in third at 2:17.87. First-year
Erin Hovendon (Hendersonville, N.C.) followed in seventh at 2:20.27, along with junior
Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.) in eighth at 2:21.29. In the 1,500, junior
Gillian Roeder (Delmar, N.Y.) was the top MIT finisher in second as she crossed in 4:39.62. Crow also scored in that event, placing sixth in 4:44.06.

Kirsi Rajagopal (Harrison, N.Y.) finished second in the 5,000 in 17:30.05, with Roeder also scoring in seventh place in a time of 18:18.76. First-year
Shreya Kalyan (Troy, Mich.) finished fourth in both the 100 and 200-meter finals, running times of 12.43 seconds and 25.61 seconds, respectively.
