- The Lead: Over the weekend, the No. 6 ranked MIT women's track and field team finished seventh at the NEICAAA New England Championship, held at the Northeastern University Track in Dedham. The Engineers were seventh out of 43 teams from all three NCAA divisions with a total of 40 points.

- On day one, the No. 6 ranked Engineers sat in fifth with 19 points as MIT first-year
Katherine Sanderson (West Hartford, Conn.) led the way with a victory in the 10,000 meters. Her winning time of 36:25.86 is a personal-best by 48 seconds and sits just outside of the top 25 in the country. Senior
Anna Haddad (Tacoma, Wash.) placed fourth in 37:11.49, while senior
Anna Chau (Salem, Ore.) finished in seventh at 38:17.32.

Hailey Surace (Snohomish, Wash.) scored two points in the pole vault on Friday, posting an outdoor season-best clearance of 11 feet, 9.75 inches.

HOW IT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY:

- Junior
Gillian Roeder (Delmar, N.Y.) finished second and moved up to eighth nationally as she ran a personal-best time of 4:28.79 in the 1,500 meters. In the 800 meters, junior
Julia Howarth (Barrington, R.I.) placed second and jumped up to No. 11 in the country with a season-best time of 2:11.45.

- In the discus, sophomore
Emily Ball (Des Moines, Iowa) easily broke her personal-best as she is No. 10 nationally with a throw of 149 feet that was good for sixth place overall.

- In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, senior
Einat Gavish (Newton, Mass.) finished in fourth place as she ran a time of 11:09.85.
