CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The MIT men's heavyweight crew team opened the 2024-25 season on Saturday morning at the Head of the Kevin, hosted by Riverside Boat Club on the Charles River. 

MIT had three entries racing in preparation for next weekend's Head Of The Charles, challenging the gold medal standard times the Engineers will be chasing next weekend. 

THE BASICS: 

• MIT Men's Collegiate Eight: 17th (95.0% of Time Standard) 
• MIT "B" Men's Collegiate Eight: 48th (90.6%) 
• MIT "C" Men's Collegiate Eight: 95th (82.4%) 

RACE BY RACE: 

• MIT's first varsity eight was the third boat on the Charles this morning, finishing 17th overall in 15:05.7 at 95.0% of the 14:20 time standard under calmer early morning conditions on a windy day. 
• The second varsity eight followed as the sixth boat at the start, finishing 48th among the entries in 15:49.2 (90.6% of the 14:20 time standard) 
• MIT's third varsity eight finished the course in 17:14.7.
