SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Graduate student Kailas Kahler (Pawtucket, RI) advanced to the Championship match of the Skidmore Bracket to conclude the Skidmore Open for the MIT men's tennis team. This marked the Engineers final tournament of the fall season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – DOUBLES

• Kahler and senior Ryan Xiao (Cary, N.C.) fell to juniors JT Bilski (New York, N.Y.) and Harrison Collomb (Wellesley, Mass.) of Wesleyan in the consolation semifinals-Q of the Thouroughbred Division, 6-4.
• Sophomores Grant Gallagher (Irvine, Calif.) and Adam Sun (Glendale, Ariz.) defeated freshman Viktor Fraenkel (Bromma, Sweden) and senior Geoff Golan (Saratoga, Calif.) of Bowdoin, 6-4 in the Mountain semifinals, but fell to sophomore Brett Keeling (Tulsa, Okla.) and junior Chase Kasday (Las Vegas, Nev.) of Wesleyan, 6-4 in the finals.
• In the semifinals of the Springs Division, sophomores Shrish Choudhary (Fremont, Calif.) and Siddharth Marathe (Pune, India) fell to junior Mark Kneiss (Athens, Greece) and sophomore Jackson Codd (Carlsbad, Calif.) of Bowdoin, 6-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED – SINGLES

• Kahler topped top-seed junior Michael Melnikov of Swarthmore (Karlsruhe, Germany), 6-4, 6-4 in the Skidmore Division semifinals. Kahler took on Kneiss of Bowdoin in the championship match and fell 6-3, 6-2.
• Gallagher fell to top-seed Keeling  of Wesleyan, 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals of the Adirondack Division.
• Marathe fell to freshman Cameron Zia (Washington, D.C.) of Bowdoin, 6-4, 6-4 in the Saratoga semifinals.
• Choudhary fell to Codd of Bowdoin in the Saratoga consolation semifinals, 6-1, 6-1.

UP NEXT:

• The Engineers have concluded the fall portion of their schedule. They will open the spring season officially on Saturday, February 15 with a 1:00 PM match against RPI at the J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble.
