Box Score NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The MIT women's tennis team concluded its fall season with tough losses in the 'A' and 'B' Championship Draw finals at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament on Sunday at Smith College. This was the first time the Engineers had two teams advance to the championship finals of their respective draws.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• In the 'A' final, first-year Fiona Lee (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) and sophomore Anastasia Samets (Ocean, N.J.) battled the trio of Amy Cui, Katie Hart, and Tina She of Amherst College. MIT fell by an 8-5 margin in doubles action as Samets lost a 6-4, 6-1 singles match. Lee was defeated, 3-6, 6-4, 10-8, in her singles outing.
• In the 'B' final, No. 4 seeded first-years Anselma Petrie (Eastchester, N.Y.) and Megan Sun (Newbury Park, Calif.) lost to No. 3 seed Ellie Gersha and Brooklyn Bindas of Tufts University. The duo dropped their doubles match, 8-4, while Petrie fell in her singles match, 6-3, 6-2. Sun lost, 7-6 (5), 6-3, to her singles opponent.

• MIT resumes regular competition on Thursday, February 13 with a home match against Brandeis University at 4:00 PM.
