- Location: Norton, Mass. (Emerson Gymnasium)

- The Lead: A 10-3 run by MIT late in the second quarter created a double-digit lead that would hold as it went on to defeat Wheaton College, 71-43, in a NEWMAC women's basketball game on Wednesday night. In a balanced scoring performance, junior Kamsi Nwogu (Algonquin, Ill.) paced the Engineers with 13 points and nine rebounds to go along with four assists, one block, and one assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- MIT inched out to a 7-2 lead following a three-pointer by graduate student Christina Antonakakis (Holmdel, N.J.). The Engineers maintained a small cushion as a pair of layups by junior Olivia Joseph (Newtown Square, Pa.) late in the quarter gave the visitors a 14-8 advantage.

- Wheaton stayed close for most of the second quarter until MIT generated eight unanswered points, fueling a 10-3 run during the final 3:32 of the quarter which resulted in a 25-24 halftime score. Antonakakis kicked things off with a trey while junior Elise Harvey (Wayland, Mass.) converted a three-point play. Nwogu then went 4-for-4 at the free throw line.

- The Engineers outscored the Lyons, 24-10, as a 16-3 run during the last six minutes of the quarter moved the score to 59-34. Joseph once again produced a pair of late layups, including one right before time expired.

- In a relatively balanced fourth quarter, MIT had a 12-9 scoring advantage.
