The Lead: The MIT men's volleyball team earned a 25-13, 25-18, 25-19 victory over visiting Elmira College in a United Volleyball Conference (UVC) match on Friday night in Rockwell Cage.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Set 1: MIT and Elmira went back and forth until a kill from graduate student
Nick Gustafson (San Diego, Calif.) kicked off a 6-0 run to give the Engineers a 16-8 lead and eventually win the set 25-13.

Set 2: With the set tied up at 15-15, MIT would score six straight points, forcing the Soaring Eagles to use up two timeouts. After that, the Engineers would take the set 25-18 with a kill from junior
Grant Oh (Irvine, Calif.).

Set 3: Both teams would once again go back and forth until two critical runs by the Engineers slid them past the Soaring Eagles, claiming the last set 25-19.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Gustafson and Oh led the way with eight kills. Graduate student
Jay Goettman (McLean, Va.) and sophomore
Michael Rini (Huntington Beach, Calif.) finished with six each.
- Junior
Riley Oh (Irvine, Calif.) led the way with 28 assists. Sophomore
Kevin Windisch (Placentia, Calif.) chipped in 10 digs while senior
Phillip Johnson (Chandler, Ariz.) produced five blocks.
UP NEXT:
- MIT remains at home and will host a tri-match on Saturday, February 24th. The Engineers will open with No. 17 Misericordia at 12 p.m. followed by Emerson at 4 p.m.
