Kate Augustyn (Eau Claire, Wis.) set a national record with her championship-winning swim in the 100-back as six different members of the MIT women's swimming and diving team collected All-American honors on the third day of the 2024 NCAA Swim and Dive National Championships.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
100 Back
- Junior Kate Augustyn (Eau Claire, Wis.) tied her national record mark of 53.41 to capture her first individual National Championship and second overall.
- She records her second All-American honor in the event and 17th overall.
- First year Sydney Smith (Atlanta, Ga.) earned her first All-American honor with a seventh-place finish with a time of 55.36.
- Junior Iris Yang (Seattle, Wash.) also grabbed her first All-American honor with a 10th-place finish as she touched the wall in 55.95.
100 Breast
- Graduate student Edenna Chen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) became a four-time All-American in the event with her second-place finish. She touched the wall at 1:00.79.
- Chen won the event in 2022 and finished fourth in 2023. Â
- She is now an 18-time All-American.
800 Free Relay
- MIT clocked in with a time of 7:27.42 to finish seventh overall.
- Sophomore Natalie Tang (Allen, Texas) led off with a time of 1:52.72 and classmate Sonia Seliger (New York, N.Y.) followed with a time of 1:52.22. Smith came off the blocks and finished her leg in 1:51.54 and Augustyn swam a 1:50.94 anchor leg.
- Augustyn collected her 18th All-American honor and third in the event. Tang and Seliger are two-time All-Americans in the event. Seliger now has five All-American honors. Smith earned her second All-American honor.

- The Engineers will wrap up the championships tomorrow with the 1,650 free, 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast, three-meter diving, and the 400 free relay. Â
