The Lead: The MIT men's and women's track and field teams kicked off the outdoor season by competing in the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State University on Thursday.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:

Shot Put (Women)
- Junior Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) finished 11th as her second throw landed at 14.24m (46' 8.75").
- Junior Emily Ball (Des Moines, Iowa) ranked 32nd as she set a new PR of 12.50m (41' 0.25").

Javelin (Women)
- Ball placed 25th with a distance of 34.97m (114' 8").
Â
Shot Put (Men)
- Junior Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) finished 16th with a distance of 16.41m (53' 10.25").
Â
10,000m (Men)
- Graduate student Vedang Lad (Plainsboro, N.J.) was MIT's top finisher as he ranked 87th with a time of 29:56.72.
- Graduate student Lowell Hensgen (Raleigh, N.C.) was close behind as he was 92nd in 30:08.49, resulting in a new personal best.
- Graduate student Sam Acquaviva (Newburyport, Mass.) rounded out the Engineers in 108th place with a time of 30:57.76.

- MIT returns for day two of the Raleigh Relays on Friday, March 29 beginning at 9:45 a.m.. The Engineers are slated to compete in the 400m (men and women), discus (men and women), 100m (men), 110m hurdles (men), and the high jump (men).
