Sport Shorts Spotlight: Swimming and Diving Has Strong Showing at NCAAs; Beratahani Wins National Title

The MIT men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs wrapped up competition at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships over the weekend as both programs earned multiple All-America honors throughout the four-day event.  The highlight of the meet came on Sunday when Fiora Beratahani of the women’s swimming and diving program claimed the 3-meter diving national championship. Beratahani is just the second diver in program history to win a national championship, joining Doria Holbrook who also won the 3-meter board in 2007. Annika Naveen was also named the NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete Award recipient, recognizing the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals. The women’s team went on to take sixth overall, marking the 13th-straight top-10 finish for the program. The men's team concluded the meet with a 14th-place finish as the Engineers totaled 91 points over the four days.
