MIT Baseball Blanks Emerson Before Splitting Doubleheader with Coast Guard

The MIT Engineers showcased their pitching dominance early in the week, blanking Emerson College 5-0 behind Thomas Grisamore's stellar one-hit, seven-strikeout performance over 7.2 innings. Joey Severson drove the offense against the Lions with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, sparking a momentum that carried into the weekend. The Engineers successfully captured the first game of their Saturday doubleheader against the Coast Guard Academy with a tight 4-2 victory. Matthew Spenner delivered a career-high 8.1 innings on the mound during that opener, while Severson came up clutch again with a rally-inducing, three-run home run in the seventh inning. The team will look to carry their positive momentum into their next NEWMAC road contest against Clark.
