Sophia Min (Naples, Fla.), and the doubles team of senior
Jay Lu (Austin, Texas) and first-year
Chloe Zeng (Austin, Texas) of the MIT women's tennis team advanced to the round of 16 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Regional Championship hosted by Bowdoin College.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Singles:
- In the A Singles round of 64, Lee, the No. 3 seed, defeated Caitlin Cass of Connecticut College, 6-1, 6-1.
- First-year Anselma Petrie (Eastchester, N.Y.) defeated Natazya Simunyola of Smith College, 6-1, 6-2.
- First-year Megan Sun (Newbury Park, Calif.) fell to Waka Aida of Colby College, 6-7, 6-4, 10-7.
- Lu lost to Nina Farhat of Middlebury College, 6-3, 7-5.
- Zeng fell to Rebecca Suarez of Brandeis University, 7-5, 4-6, 10-3.
- In the A Singles round of 32, Petrie lost to Sarai Dorismond of Babson College, 6-1, 6-2.
- Lee defeated Iris Westmoreland of Bates College, 6-1, 6-0.
- A recipient of a first-round bye in the B Singles Draw, Min defeated Mariana Campos of Babson, 8-5, in the round of 32.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Doubles:
- In the round of 48, Petrie and Min defeated Lizzie Frekko and Olivia Gidlow of Bates, 8-1.
- Sun and Lee lost to Amelie Gal and Waka Aida of Colby, 8-6.
- Following a first-round bye, Lu and Zeng defeated Ava Lyon and Ava Steinberger of Bates, 8-0.
- Petrie and Min fell to No. 4 seed Yuu Ishikawa and Margaux Molyneux of Williams College, 8-1.
