No. 7 Women’s Lightweight Crew Victorious at Knecht Cup Regatta

CHERRY HILL, N.J. – The MIT women's lightweight crew team won the Singles and Pairs events and placed second in the Doubles, fifth in the Varsity 8+, and sixth Novice 4+ and Third Varsity 8+ races to conclude the Knecht Cup Regatta on Sunday on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.

RACE BY RACE:

Singles: Senior Grace Hutter (Los Altos Hills, Calif.) crossed the finish line in 9:19.50, exactly 1:14.14 ahead of the runner up from Carnegie Mellon, to win the Ana Tamas Knecht Memorial Trophy.
Pair: First years Yagmur Kavukcuoglu (Richmond, Great Britain) and Katherine Wei (Lexington, Mass.) won the final in 8:47.00, comfortably ahead of the boats from Fordham (9:18.72) and Carnegie Mellon (9:37.97).
Doubles:
- In the final, junior Josephine Williams (Darien, Conn.) and first year Calder Shen (Brookline, Mass.) finished 8.84 seconds behind first-place Radcliffe with a time of 7:58.02, but three seconds ahead of BU.
- Sophomore Abigail Kaplan (Rye, N.Y.) and sophomore Avery Reischer-Craft (North Vancouver, British Columbia) were the runner ups in the Petite Final with a time of 8:19.68 as they were edged out by Gordon by 1.57 seconds.
- First years Lillie Beliveau (Meredith, N.H.) and Ania Kelly (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) were fourth in the Petite Final as they crossed the finish line in 8:30.43.
N4+: MIT finished in sixth place with a time of 9:13.58.
V8+: Racing for the Danielle Kousoulis Memorial Trophy, the Engineers placed fifth with a time of 7:11.76.
3V8+: MIT logged a time of 8:10.58 to finish in fourth place.
