CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The MIT women's lightweight crew team captured first place in both the doubles and four races against Gordon College and Boston University on a wet and rainy Saturday morning with a strong cross-headwind and some chop on the Charles River. 

THE BASICS:

• V4+: 1st and 4th of 5
• 2x: 1st and 3rd of 4

RACE BY RACE: 

• 2x: Avery Reischer-Craft (North Vancouver, British Columbia) and Katherine Wei (Lexington, Mass.) pulled away in a crowded field to win the first race of the day in 8:52.9. Gordon was second in 9:02.6, finishing ahead of MIT's Grace DeMartino (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Ania Kelly (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) in third in 9:30.4.
• V4+: MIT's top varsity four pulled away from the rest of the field to dominate the race with a winning time of 8:14.8. Boston University was second with a time of 8:43.8, the seconds ahead of Gordon in third (8:53.7). MIT's B boat finished fourth in 9:09.0.
