CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Bates College defeated the MIT women's lightweight crew team in a pair of races on a cold and windy Saturday morning on the Charles River, as the crews contested with a strong, gusty tailwind and chop on the water.

THE BASICS:

• V8+: 2nd of 4
• 2V8+: 2nd of 3 
• N4+: Canceled due to conditions

RACE BY RACE: 

• V8+: The Bates V8+ outlasted MIT in the top varsity race, finishing in 6:51.0 as MIT trailed slightly in 6:53.8 in the closest outcome of the day. The Bates 2V8+ finished third in 7:15.7 with Simmons V8+ in fourth with a time of 8:09.9.
• 2V8+: The Bates 3V8+ was the top crew in the 2V8+ race, finishing in 7:26.4. MIT's 3V8+ recorded a time of 7:30.6, with the Bates 4V8+ following in 7:43.4.
