CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – First-year
Fiona Lee (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) and sophomore
Saina Deshpande (Pune, India) represented the No. 7 MIT women's tennis team on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Awards list. Lee was named Rookie of the Year while Deshpande was voted the Player to Watch.
Lee has a record of 19-4 this season, including a 7-2 mark while playing the No. 1 singles position. A qualifier for the upcoming 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championship, she is the third student-athlete and second in a row to receive ITA Northeast Region Rookie of the Year accolades.
Deshpande amassed a 15-0 ledger in singles and a 13-4 mark in doubles this spring. Earlier this month, she was named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Singles First Team and All-Conference Doubles Second Team.
