Sport Shorts Spotlight: Women's Track and Field NCAA National Champions!


MIT won the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship on Saturday at the SPIRE Institute's Outdoor Track & Field facility on Saturday. The title was MIT's first NCAA women's outdoor track and field national championship. With the victory, the Engineers completed a sweep of the 2024-25 NCAA Division III women's cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field titles – becoming the first women's program to win all three in the same year.

Championship Update:
 

Men's Heavyweight Crew

  • MIT will compete in the three-day Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship beginning on Friday at the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.

Men's Lightweight Crew

  • MIT will compete in the three-day Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship beginning on Friday at the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.

Women's Lightweight Crew

  • MIT will compete in the three-day Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship beginning on Friday at the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.

Sailing

  • MIT is competing in the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open Fleet Race National Championship at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. The two-day semifinals began today (Tuesday) while the two-day finals kick off on Thursday.

Sailing

  • MIT finished 14th at the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women's Fleet Race National Championship, which was held in St. Mary's City, Md. and hosted by St. Mary's College. The Engineers earned a seventh-place finish in the Eastern Semifinals to qualify for the championship final.

 

Men's Tennis

  • MIT graduate student Kailas Kahler competed in the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Singles Championship hosted at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Kahler won his first match but fell in the second round.

 

Women's Tennis

  • MIT first-year Fiona Lee advanced to the second round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Singles Championships, but retired during the third set of her second-round match on Saturday. This was the fourth consecutive year the No. 7 Engineers made an appearance in the second round.

 

Men's Outdoor Track and Field

  • Junior Tim Neumann finished fourth in the preliminaries of the 1500m, advancing to Saturday's final, MIT opened the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday.
  • Junior Jackson Bliey claimed his third straight high jump national championship to lead MIT on Friday at the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Sophomore Anthony Meng also earned high jump All-America accolades with a tie for sixth place.
  • Juniors Tim Neumann and Sean Huckleberry each earned All-America second team honors as the Engineers finished in 17th place at the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

 

Women's Outdoor Track and Field

  • Paced by a third-place performance in the discus by senior Alexis Boykin, MIT earned six All-America honors on the opening day of the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
  • Senior Alexis Boykin set the NCAA Division III women's shot put all-time record, winning her eighth career national championship with a throw of 16.80m (55'1/2"), as the Engineers competed on Friday at the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
  • MIT earned nine All-America honors across six events, including the program's first relay national championship in the 4x400m, to win the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship on Saturday at the SPIRE Institute's Outdoor Track & Field facility. The title was MIT's first NCAA women's outdoor track and field national championship. With the victory, MIT completed a sweep of the 2024-25 NCAA Division III women's cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field titles – becoming the first women's program to sweep all three in the same year.
