Gwen Flusche Named NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Year, Women’s Lacrosse Places Eight on All-Conference Team

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Headlined by junior Gwen Flusche (Ridgewood, N.J.) being voted the NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Year, MIT had eight student-athletes earn spots on the All-Conference Team for the second time in program history. Flusche, junior Annica Lam (Ridgewood, N.J.), junior Ashley Thomas (Summit, N.J.), and first-year Kelsey Dwyer (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) were voted to the All-Conference First Team while senior Julianne Flusche (Ridgewood, N.J.), senior Sydney Pyon (Garnet Valley, Pa.), sophomore Laura Day (Old Saybrook, Conn.), and sophomore Pauline Vien (Brookline, Mass.) were selected to the Second Team.
 
Gwen Flusche
  • NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Year and All-Conference First Team
  • Ranks second in the NEWMAC in draw controls (94) and fifth in groundballs (42) while tallying 32 goals and 20 assists

MIT returns to action on Saturday, May 10 when it plays host University of Scranton in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship at 1:00 PM.
