Women’s Track and Field Earns Multiple USTFCCCA Regional Honors; Boykin Named Regional Indoor/Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS – Powered by East Regional Indoor and Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio), the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field National Champion MIT women's track and field team earned multiple regional accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) during the 2024-2025 season.

Boykin was named the Indoor and Outdoor Regional Field Athlete of the Year, while Director of Track and Field and Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach Julie Heyde earned Regional Indoor and Outdoor Coach of the Year honors and Associate Head Coach Todd Linder was named the Regional Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year. In addition to the regional honors for Boykin, Heyde and Linder, MIT earned 58 All-Region honors from the USTFCCCA across the indoor and outdoor seasons, given to the top-5 individuals in each event from each region, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.

Alexis Boykin

  • East Region - Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year
    • Swept the throwing events at the 2025 NCAA DIII Indoor Championships
    • PR of 20.91m (68-7¼) in the indoor weight throw was the second best effort in NCAA DIII history
    • Won titles in the weight throw and shot put at the New England Division III Indoor Championships 
  • East Region - Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year
    • Broke NCAA DIII record in the shot put with 16.80m (55-1½) PR at the NCAA Championships
    • Also finished third in both the discus and hammer at the NCAA Championships
    • Won 11 individual event titles during outdoor season

Julie Heyde 

  • East Region - Women's Indoor Coach of the Year
    • Led the Engineers to its first-ever team title at the 2025 NCAA DIII Indoor Championships. 
    • MIT scored 49 points in earning 12 individual All-American honors
  • East Region - Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year
    • Led the Engineers to their first-ever team title at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships, scoring 56 points
    • Won the team title at the NEWMAC Championships, winning 11 events

Todd Linder 

  • East Region - Women's Assistant Indoor Coach of the Year
  • Throws coach for the national champion MIT Engineers
  • Guided Boykin to national titles in the shot put and weight throw. 
  • Boykin recorded the second-best mark all-time in DIII in the indoor weight throw
