Women’s Volleyball Receives AVCA Team Academic Award, Earns Spot on Academic Honor Roll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sponsored by INTENT, the MIT women's volleyball team collected its 19th consecutive American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award as announced by the organization on Monday. In addition, the Engineers earned a spot on the Academic Honor Roll for the seventh year in a row by virtue of ranking in the top 20 percent of Division III team GPAs.

Initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, the AVCA Team Academic Award honors collegiate and high school teams that displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 mark on a 5.0 scale.

MIT placed a league-high 14 student-athletes on the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team while additional academic accolades were earned by graduate student Consecrata Rozario (Cary, N.C.) and senior Ottavia Personeni (Bethesda, Md.). Both were named to College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team while Rozario was voted to the CSC Academic All-America First Team.

On the court, the Engineers advanced to the regional final of the NCAA Championship for the fourth year in a row.
