BRUNSWICK, Maine - In its opening match of the spring season, the No. 30 MIT men's tennis team fell to No. 7 Bowdoin, 6-1 on the road on Saturday afternoon. 

THE BASICS: 

• Score: No. 7 Bowdoin 6, No 30 MIT 1 
• Records: MIT 0-1 Overall, No. 7 Bowdoin 1-0 Overall 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• The Polar Bears captured all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the day. Tyler Li and Hunter Liao played Kiran Gapapati and Simon Catanzaro tough in No. 2 doubles. The pair from Bowdion took a 4-2 lead before the Engineers tied it up, but the Polar Bears prevailed with a 7-6 win. 
• Bowdoin controlled the singles portion of the match winning four of six in straight sets.  
• A 6-2, 6-1 win in No. 1 singles for Mark Kneiss over Adam Sun clinched the win for the hosts.  
• Shrish Choudhary dropped the first set to Jackson Codd, 6-4, but he rebounded to take the second set by a 6-4 score, but Codd took the deciding set by a 6-4 score. 
• Li looked to rally in No. 5 singles after dropping the first set 7-5. Li earned a 6-3 win in the second set over Simon Catanzaro and pulled out to an early 4-1 lead in the third set where he notched the lone win for MIT, taking the decisive set, 6-1. 

UP NEXT: 

• MIT returns to the courts on Friday, March 6 as the Engineers will head to Medford, Mass. to take on Tufts for a 3:00 PM match.
