CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The No. 30 MIT men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 match to No. 5 Tufts on Friday afternoon on the JB Carr Tennis Bubble. 

THE BASICS: 

• Score: No, 5 Tufts 5, No. 30 MIT 2 
• Records: MIT 1-2 Overall, No. 5 Tufts 5-0 Overall  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Tufts took two of three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Adam Sun and Grant Gallagher won No. 1 doubles over Alex Ganchev and Sacha Maes, 7-6. 
• Maes took the first singles bout to make it 2-0 Jumbos as he defeated Shrish Choudhary, 6-2, 6-2 in the third position and the visitors went up 3-0 after a two-set win in the No. 1 court. 
• Hunter Liao got MIT on the board with a 6-2, 7-6 win in No. 2 singles over Andrej Djoick. 
• Siddharth Marathe took the win in four singles over Stavros Mastrogamvrakis for the second MIT point of the day. 
• The Jumbos earned wins in the fifth and sixth positions to wrap up the match.  

UP NEXT: 

• The Engineers remain at home as they will open up NEWMAC play on Saturday, March 14 when they welcome Clark to Cambridge for a 2:00 PM match followed by a 5:30 PM match against Colby.
