No. 8 Women’s Tennis Overpowers Emerson, 7-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 8 MIT women's tennis team defeated Emerson College, 7-0, in NEWMAC action on Friday afternoon.

THE BASICS:

Score: No. 8 MIT 7, Emerson 0
Records: No. 8 MIT (5-1 Overall, 2-0 NEWMAC); Emerson (4-5 Overall, 0-2 NEWMAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED - DOUBLES:

Carley Chen and Chloe Zeng topped Amaya Briones and Abigail Miner, 6-0, in the No. 2 position.
Katie Driscoll and Anastasia Samets clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 decision against Jayden Beverly and Anna Matsuura in the No. 3 slot.
Alaina Kolli and Artemis Pados completed the sweep with a 6-0 victory over Teah Login and Kendi Bispham in the top spot.

HOW IT HAPPENED - SINGLES:

In the No. 2 spot, Zeng defeated Briones, 6-1, 6-0.
Driscoll topped Miner, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 3 position.
Rayna Li clinched the match from the No. 6 slot courtesy of her 6-0, 6-0 win over Beverly.
Chen produced a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Alisa Pimenova in the No. 4 spot.
In the No. 5 position, Sophia Yang topped Matsuura, 6-0, 6-0.
Saina Deshpande wrapped up the match by defeating Login, 6-0, 6-1, at the top of the ladder.

UP NEXT:

MIT will travel to No. 29 University of Redlands for a 7:00 PM ET (4:00 PM PT) match on Monday, March 23.
Emerson will continue NEWMAC play on the road when it visits Salve Regina University on Saturday, March 28.
