SANTA CRUZ, Ca. - The No. 30 MIT men's tennis team opened up its California Spring Break swing with a decisive 6-1 win over the University of California, Santa Cruz on Monday afternoon. 
 
THE BASICS: 

• Score: MIT 6, UC Santa Cruz 1 
• Records: MIT 5-2 Overall, University of California, Santa Cruz 4-7 Overall 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• The Engineers grabbed the first point of the day, winning two of three doubles matches.  
• Benjamin Wang and Rocco Melendez got the lone doubles win for the Banana Slugs in No. 1 doubles with a 6-2 win. 
• Tyler Li and Hunter Liao defeated Gavin Sonntag and Peter Liang by a 7-5 score in No. 2 doubles while SangHyuk Im and Rushil Patel earned a 6-1 win over Caden Wong and Spencer Hidas.  
• Adam Sun got the first singles win for MIT in No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Wang. Li took a 6-4, 6-2 match in No.4 singles over Liang. 
• In three singles, Shrish Choudhary held off Melendez for the three-set win, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. 
• Grant Gallagher took down Wong in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5. 
• The Banana Slugs got their lone point in six singles as Hari Raghavan defeated Henry Feldman, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (Super Tie Break).
