No. 28 Men's Tennis Defeated by Chapman, 4-3

ORANGE, Ca. - The No. 28 MIT men's tennis team won two of three doubles matches, but fell to Chapman in a tough 4-3 match on Thursday afternoon at the Anderson Tennis Center. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Chapman 4, MIT 3 
  • Records: MIT (5-3 Overall); Chapman (6-8 Overall) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Grant Gallagher and Adam Sun earned a 6-2 win against Aram Izmirian and Ben Jorgensen in No. 1 singles and SangHyuk Im and Rushil Patel sealed the doubles point with a 7-6 (7-5) win over Matt Dewey and Seif El Salawy. 
  • Chapman grabbed wins in courts five, four, and three, and a win from James Krantz over Shrish Choudhary in No. 2 singles sealed the win. 
  • Rushil Patel rallied from dropping the first set to Logan Friedman 6-2, to win the next two 6-4 and 10-7 in the super tiebreak. 
  • Hunter Liao earned a three-set win in No. 1 doubles as he held off Izmirian, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1. 

UP NEXT: 

  • MIT will head to Pasadena, Calif. to take on Caltech on Friday, March 27. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 PM EST/1:00 PM PST.
