Men's Tennis

No. 28 Men's Tennis Falls to No. 1 CMS, 6-1

CLAREMONT, CA - The No. 28 MIT men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 match to No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps-Colleges at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center to conclude the Engineers Spring Break trip in California. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: No. 1 CMS 6, MIT 1 
  • Records: No. 28 MIT (6-4 Overall); No. 1 CMS (19-1 Overall) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Sagehens took all three doubles matches from the Engineers. In No. 2 doubles, Hunter Liao and Tyler Li looked to defeat Josh Kim and Sibi Raja, but the CMS team was able to hold on for a 7-5 win. 
  • CMS was able to win five of six singles in straight sets. The match of the evening came in No. 4 singles between Li and Josh Kim. After Kim took set one by a 6-0 margin, Li rallied and earned a 7-5 victory to send the pair to a super tiebreak. Li was able to take the tiebreak by a 10-7 score.  
  • Henry Wilson earned the clinching victory for the hosts with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Grant Gallagher in the fifth position.  

UP NEXT: 

  • MIT returns to the east coast and will play a pivotal NEWMAC contest on Tuesday, March 31 when the Engineers head to Babson for a 3:30 PM road contest against the Beavers.
