No. 30 Men's Tennis Earns 4-3 Win Over Vassar

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The No. 30 MIT men's tennis team rallied from dropping the doubles portion of the match to win four of six singles matches and earn a 4-3 win over Vassar in the J.B Carr Tennis Bubble on Saturday. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: MIT 4, Vassar 3 
  • Records: MIT 1-1 Overall, Vassar 2-1 Overall  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Vassar took two of three doubles with the lone win for MIT coming in No. 2 with a 7-5 win from Tyler Li and Hunter Liao
  • Liao and Li took wins in No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Liao earned a three-set win over Eugene Lee, 6-0, 4-6, 7-5, while Li followed with 6-2, 6-0 win over Fernando Bauermeister in two singles. 
  • In three singles, Siddharth Marathe earned a 6-4, 6-1 sweep over Nolan Kubiak. 
  • Vassar grabbed three-set wins in both four and five singles and Sanghyuk In swept Maximus Martin, 6-1, 6-2 in six singles. 

UP NEXT: 

  • The Engineers remain at home as they will host Tufts for a 4:00 PM contest in the bubble on Friday, March 13.
