No. 3 Men’s Lightweight Crew Earns Varsity Eight Silver at Knecht Cup Regatta

CHERRY HILL, N.J. -- The No. 3 MIT men's lightweight crew team claimed silver in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight finals, narrowly missing gold in the first varsity final, as the team concluded the two-day Knecht Cup Regatta on the Cooper River on Sunday.

VARSITY EIGHT (V8+):

Lineup: C. Jane Atkinson; 8. Harry Sillifant; 7. Ryosei Tanakamaru; 6. Kieran Dunn; 5. Daniel Kurlander; 4. Lucas Young; 3. Milon Kalia; 2. Jude Carroll; 1. Jonathan Dase
Results:
- Saturday - Heat 1: 1st of 6 (05:49.82) - Advanced to Final
- Sunday - Final: 2nd of 6 (05:51.11) - SILVER
- The varsity eight narrowly captured gold on a photo finish against Trinity, as the Bantams (05:50.28) finished 00.83 seconds ahead of MIT's finish of 05:51.11. MIT was 04.87 ahead of third place Purdue, while also defeating La Salle, Temple and Embry Riddle.

SECOND VARSITY EIGHT (2V8+):

Lineup: C. Gavin Ng; 8. Robert Romani; 7. Eric Chung; 6. Dean Bittker; 5. Will Savage; 4. Zachary Troeller; 3. Trent Lee; 2. Christopher Hom; 1. Ryan Chen

- Saturday - Heat 2: 1st of 6 (06:03.98) - Advanced to Final
- Sunday - Final: 2nd of 6 (06:04.48) - SILVER
- The second varsity was 03.67 seconds behind La Salle's winning time of 06:00.81. The Engineers (06:04.48) out sprinted third place Purdue (06:05.75) and Trinity (06:06.84), as all three crews finished withing a two and half second window.

VARSITY FOUR (V4+):

Lineup: C. Theodore Carman; 4. Benjamin Martin; 3. Nicolas Camenisch; 2. Isaac Clayton; 1. Diego Gonzalez

- Saturday - Heat 2: 2nd of 5 (07:20.11) - Advanced to Final
- Sunday - Final: 5th of 6 (07:26.17)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

MIT earned 39 medals on the weekend at the Knecht Cup Regatta, second behind Fordham's 42. The women's lightweight and openweight programs combined for 21, while the men's lightweight program won 18 for the Engineers.
