No. 2 Men's Indoor Track and Field Captures Bowdoin Invite

THE BASICS:

- Location: Farley Field House - Brunswick, Maine.

- The Lead: At the 2017 Bowdoin Invitational, the No. 2 ranked MIT men's indoor track and field team captured the event with a total of 181 points. Bowdoin was second at 135 points, followed by Tufts (120), Southern Maine (74) and Merrimack (42).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Overall, MIT captured four individual events and a relay in an overall strong day for the Engineers. Junior Tre Albritten (Plano, Texas) captured the 200 meters in a time of 22.33, which ranks him sixth nationally in Division III. Graduate student Matthew Deyo (Syracuse, N.Y.) was the top finisher in the mile as he won the event in a time of 4:20.08. Ranking 13th nationally in the mile with that time, Deyo also finished second in the 1,000 meters as he ran 2:35.96.

 - Freshman Josh Derrick (Winnetka, Ill.) was the winner of the 5,000 meters as he crossed in a time of 15:11.51, which is currently 21st in the country. The final individual victory came in the high jump as freshman Alec Reduker (Newburyport, Mass.) won the event with a leap of six feet, eight inches.

- In the 4x800 relay, the team of sophomore Nathan Munet (Elkhart, Ind.), senior Henry Tareque (Ossining, N.Y.), freshman Vilhelm Anderson Woltz (Logan, Ohio) and freshman Tyndale Hannan (Dublin, Ohio) were victorious as they finished in a time of 8:01.32.

- In the 800 meters, Hannan and Munet finished second and third, respectively. Their times of 1:56.69 and 1:56.73 currently rank them 11th and 12th nationally.

- MIT returns to action on January 27th and 28th as the Engineers travel to meets at both Tufts University and Boston University.
